I am pleased to announce that my application to the userpics community has been accepted, and I will soon be supplying other denizens of livejournal with userpics. Huzzah!
In other news, I played in a sealed-deck L5R tournament thingy. Since I can't really afford to buy duplicates of stuff I've already got, I used this as an opportunity to purchase the new Ratling deck from Winds of Change, which they could sell me for tournament purposes since they ran a prerelease tournament. Anyway, the new stronghold is evil. I had some reservations about converting over from the Warrens of the Nezumi before I tried the Tch'tch Warrens, but after trying it I think it has definite potential. The ability to steal cards from your opponent's discard pile is insidious, frustrating for your opponent, and just plain awesome. In every battle, your opponent must consider that any cards they play might eventually end up in your hand to be used against them. Even if you're stealing stuff that you have no interest in playing, you can always toss it to your Ratling Conjuror instead of sacrificing a card of your own. The new holding Personal Librarian is awesome as well, and works very well with the stronghold. In addition to being another 2-for-2 holding, you can bow and destroy it to discard your hand and draw a new hand the same size. So even if you've been hoarding garbage from your opponent's discard pile, you can toss it all away for new cards from your own deck. I can see The Path of Wisdom ending up in Diamond era Ratling decks - both to be repeatedly discarded to Conjurors, and to serve as fodder for the Librarians.
With the approaching elimination of things like Small Farm and Jade Works from the environment, it's good to see so many excellent 2-for-2 holdings in Winds of Change. Akodo's Field and Ashigaru Fort are others that I think will find homes in many of my decks if I get them in sufficient numbers.
