What with my computer virus hell and personal and lingering bout with the Horrible Death Plague, I have accomplished absolutely nothing of value for about two weeks. I spent so much time downloading, installing, and running anti-virus software that I now approach my computer with a vague sense that I shouldn't try to do anything important on it because at any moment it could melt into a pile of toxic sludge.
Between all of that and the damage being sick did to my productivity and usual sleeping schedule, I'm finding it very difficult to get back into my usual routine and actually work on anything. I was hoping that the new prompt for Brigits_Flame would be a good motivator, but sadly it's "Angels," which isn't exactly firing up my enthusiasm. Meh.
I need to find something to read, too. In December I read the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, which I really enjoyed*. After that, I decided to re-read Hogfather, but it's been a couple of days since I finished that, and I'm not really in the mood to re-read another Terry Pratchett.
Someone who loves me got me Nightmare Revisited for Christmas. I just love the Marilyn Manson cover of This is Halloween. The very idea that such a thing even exists makes me smile, but I also enjoy listening to it. There are some other interesting re-interpretations on there as well, and only a couple that have no redeeming qualities whatsoever (I can't even get through a single listen of Jack's Lament by the All-American Rejects or Jack's Obsession by Sparklehorse. There are a few others that I listened to a couple of times and decided that I just didn't care for them, but those two are just plain awful).

* Young-adult contemporary fantasy in which all magic comes from enslaving demons. When summoned, the demons look for mistakes in the ritual in the hope that they can break free and eat the magician. You totally root for the demons.
